Hepatology

Hepatology

Hepatology is the branch of medicine that incorporates the study of liver, gallbladder, biliary tree, and pancreas as well as management of their disorders. Although traditionally considered a sub-specialty of gastroenterology, rapid expansion has given opportunities to doctors to specialize solely in this area.

To ensure the highest level of care for liver diseases it is reasonable to seek physicians who have dedicated themselves to the discipline of Hepatology. Doctors specializing in this area are called hepatologist. All hepatologists are trained in general Internal Medicine (adult medicine) or Pediatrics (children’s medicine). They then undergo special training at a liver center.

The Department of Hepatology in Zeus Gastro Institute and research centre provides leading edge care to people with disorders of the digestive system, liver, pancreas and the biliary tree. We combine the most advanced subspecialty expertise with cutting edge technology and an emphasis on access and quality.

  • The first step to successful treatment is an accurate diagnosis. Diagnosing a digestive disorder is complex because symptoms are often nonspecific. At Zeus we have physicians with the highest levels of training and are most experienced in the region.
  • As research centre we are involved with basic and clinical research in digestive and liver disease to explore more effective treatments.
  • We use the most advanced equipment available, and our experienced specialists will work closely with you during the entire diagnostic process.
